Botany Laboratory

          Botany laboratory is well equipped with compound and dissecting microscope enough for each student to individually use it in class. In addition  there are research  microscops for magnification  to absorve detail structure of micro organism. Besides this the laboratory has, soil, thermo-meter, ph meter, spectrometer, potometer, potomiter, respirometer for specific  experiments for under quadrate level. Botony laboratory is also supplemented by museum which has some specimens of plant and fassils, 3-D  models and charts to understand structure of plant respectivly used regularly in practical classes, well spacious and ventilated botony lab at VDC provides specimens, microscops, permanent slide letest method of phsiological experiment, genties, section cutting of plants Demondrat dissection etc. Botony practical covered during the session are section cutting, taxonomic studies, physiological & ecological experiment, study of community, biochemical analysis etc.

Zoology Laboratory

The  zoology laboratory of govt. Naveen girls college, Baikunthpur, Korea C.G. has provided various facilities to the UG students ( B.Sc. -1, 2, 3 year) to perform experiments.

In the laboratory various instruments like PH meter, hemocytometer, colorimeter, paper chromatography chamber, centrifuge are there, along with simple, compound & binocular microscopic studies.

Different slides (WM/ T.S/ L.S) are there for microscopic anatomical & embryological studies for osteological studies articulated &non articulated bones are there. For performing biochemical & hematological experiments glass wares & different chemicals are there in the laboratory.

As we know that dissection is totally banned by U.G.C. , it was very difficult to teach students about anatomy & morphology of various animals, under my guidance they were taught to perform dissections by using day, Some of the best clay dissections are also there in the laboratory for reference. 

Different types of projects were given to B.Sc. students, some of them are as follows -

·       To make charts & models from waste material.

·       To collect birds & insets nests which were left by them.

·       To make pedigree analysis chart up to three generations with the photographs.

·       To make wall mural with the waste materials outside the zoology laboratory.

Student have made marine aquarium & jaruls park with different types of Dinosaurs in a very beautiful way.

All these project were performed by students in the year 2016, 2017, & 2018 is very enthusiastic manner.

In the year 2017 -2018 Dr. Manisha Saxena, Assist. professor (Zoology) have tried on innovative, creative & interesting way to teach zoology with ecofriendly   approach, by teaching students to make models of different animals & bird, extend animals like Diana sours, organs& body system life cycles of different animals & insects etc. All these  models in the laboratory were made by using waste materials collected from their surroundings ( their home, college & market place & fields) This approach has develops confidence  among students & interest for zoology. By this they have learned day modeling along with painting which has helped some of them to earn their  living during COVID lockdown.

All these efforts was done by Dr. Manisha Saxena Assistant Professor Zoology,Ex principal Mrs. Anuradha Paul, present principal  Dr.(Ms.) R.N. Kachchap & Mr. K.Z. Usmani office staff and all my students of B.Sc. (1,2,3year) of govt. Naveen girls college has made the zoology laboratory of this college as one of the unique laboratory among all the colleges in rural areas of Chhattisgarh.

Now, it is like a mini museum, students from various schools and  college sometimes visits our laboratory which makes us proud.

Chemistry Laboratory

Chemistry laboratories-adding interest to the subject :-

      Chemistry is often perceived as complicated and even boring, at out college, learning chemistry is super fun! It is a place to explore, enjoy and also understand the responsibility of treating equipment and chemicals with the care and attention they deserve. Learning methods facilities and the faculty hare prove that the subject can be interesting and easy to learn.

 Encourages learning with curiosity :-

         Each of our science subjects has a separate laboratory. The chemistry lab is fully equipped to ensure that students are in touch with all the latest development and techniques in this realm. The environment and setting of the lab nature the intaitive and inquisitive minds of the students and enhance their zest to make scientific enquiries. The teacher and the highly trained lab staff provide and atmosphere conducive to learning not just in theory by applying it practically.

Fully Equipped Laboratory :-

·       Durable and high quality glass beakers.

·       Marked cylinders for measuring liquids.

·       Glass flasks.

·       Wickless alcohol lamps with stand.

·       Test tubes and stands.

·       Thermometer.

·       Tubing pinch clamps.

·       Ph paper.

·       Rubber stoppers.

·       Ring stands.

·       Distillation equipment and many other equipment.

·       Well maintained good quality and safely stored stock of chemicals for conducting experiments.

·       Fire fighting equipment’s. Etc.

  The Importance of Safety :-

          Health and safety are given paramount importance in our college. Students are taught this aspect before they get down to conducting experiments. They are taught to prevent to mishap and deal with them effectively in case of an inadvertent error resulting is an emergency. Anyone who enters the lab must wear protective gear like safety goggles, lab coats, mouth masks and gloves. We ensure that the equipment and chemicals are checked at regular intervals and all defective materials are instantly disposed off. Students are coached on being alert and must inform the lab assistant or the staff on duty of any imminent hazard or risky chemical spills. Every one is taught to use the safety, emergency as well as the fire fighting equipment so that accidents are prevented.

Environmental club

It is mandatory for the student to study a subject environmental study in the course, in which they have to appear in the examination in the form of theory and practical. A project file is made under practical and work is done to make the environment green and clean.

Under this, for the beautification of the college, groups of 5-5 girl students have been made and in the session 2019-20 and 2020-21, the girl students were motivated to craft the useful things from the waste material. With this practice, students can also make it a means of employment in future. It can also be used in home decoration as well. Under that practice by the girl students approx. 78 Useful and decorative items are made from waste materials. Under this club, the girl students are motivated to preserve the environment, in which the girls also protect the plants planted in the college and help in preserving the wet waste coming out of the college in a pit, which is used for the nutrition of plants.
